Vijay Antony’s latest Tamil movie ‘Yaman’ kicked off its box office journey with decent opening day collection. According to the trade analysts, the movie raked a collection of Rs 1.8 crore on day 1 in Tamil Nadu. The celluloid registered a business of Rs 35 lakhs in Chennai. The film also performed well in other metro cities of the state.
South Indian superstar Vijay’s first movie of year 2017 receiving positive response from his fans. The celluloid opened to 10% occupancy on 1st Thursday and continued to perform well in noon and evening shows. The film is facing box office clash with the Tamil version of latest Indian movie ‘The Ghazi Attack’, which stars Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu and Atul Kulkarni in main roles.
Directed by illustrious filmmaker Jeeva Shankar, the fresh Tamil flick has failed to drive public response in other south Indian states like Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The film performed quite dull in these regions and reported very decent occupancy. Mia George, Thiagarajan and Sangili Murugan starrer cinema is expected to see some development in the weekend days.
As the film has been released in only one language, there no scope for the movie to influence the audiences in other states of India. In international arena also, response for this celluloid was much low compared to the response for the Tamil version of The Ghazi Attack. The movie is expected to earn a total collection of Rs 5 crore in its first week of release.
