Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest Hindi flick ‘Rangoon’ minted Rs 1 crore collection on 6th day of its release. Till now, the celluloid has raked a total box office business of Rs 21.57 crore in India. The movie, which stars Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, totalled an overall income of Rs 8.46 crore in the overseas.
The multi-starrer movie, which is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, is about to complete almost one week in Indian cinemas. The celluloid competed with Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil at box office and witnessed poor response after weekend days.
Rangoon grossed around Rs 18 crore collection in initial three days of first week of release. Hitting across more than 800 screens in India, the celluloid reported around 30 to 40% occupancy throughout six days of its release. After garnering Rs 1.3 crore on 4th day, Rs 1.2 crore on 5th day and Rs 1 crore on 6th day, the romantic action cinema is expected to earn stagnant income in the coming days.
Apart from the business in domestic arena, the Hindi flick also performed splendidly in the foreign countries. The celluloid pocketed Rs 2.07 crore in north American countries (United States and Canada), Rs 3.11 crore in United Arab Emirates, Rs 0.41 crore in United Kingdom, Rs 0.36 crore in Australia, Rs 0.1 crore in New Zealand, Rs 0.04 crore in Malaysia and Rs 1.37 crore in rest of the world.
