Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor starrer latest Hindi movie ‘Rangoon’, which also features Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in major role, collected Rs 1.2 crore in second week. The celluloid exhibited dull performance in 2nd week and reported about 35% drop in its box office business. Till now, the film has minted Rs 20.61 crore at India’s box office.
The multi-starrer flick, which is directed by popular filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, performed quite well in the first week. The film released on 24th February and collected Rs 19.41 crore in the opening week. In second week, the celluloid faced a huge box office competition with the Bollywood movie ‘Commando 2 : The Black Money Trail’ which hit screens on 3rd March.
The action thriller flick, which starred Adah Sharma, Vidyut Jamwal and Esha Gupta in significant roles, divulged a big number of audiences and impacted the business of other films. ‘Rangoon’ movie made collections in range of Rs 0.1 crore to Rs 0.2 crore in the second week and grossed an overall total of Rs 1.2 crore in those seven days (from 3rd March to 10th March).
With the release of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, also the little response for ‘Rangoon’ started declining from 10th March and the film did no business in the third week of its release. Though the celluloid received positive response from spectators in cinema halls and mixed reviews from critics, it failed to gross a big collection at India’s box office.
