Vishal Bhardwaj directed latest Hindi movie ‘Rangoon’ showcased average performance on opening day. The film minted Rs 6.07 crore on first day and kicked off its journey at box office with decent occupancy on 1st Friday. The celluloid witnessed 15% occupancy on 24th February and registered a single digit business on that day.
Though the movie is competing with Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Anu Kapoor, Sayani Gupta and Saurabh Shukla starrer Bollywood cinema ‘Jolly LLB 2’ at box office, it reported a good box office figure on its very first day in the cinema halls. On Friday (February 24), the celluloid received positive reviews from the critics as well as audiences.
Not only Subhash Kapoor’s directorial venture but also Sankalp Reddy directed flick clashed with Rangoon at box office. The Hindi version of ‘The Ghazi Attack’, which features Atul Kulkarni, Rana Daggubati and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, has divulged a great number of spectators and causing a hindrance in the box office business of multi-starrer ‘Rangoon’.
The film, which is set during 1944 World War 2, exhibited poor performance in south Indian region. Rangoon couldn’t make much business in Telugu and Tamil speaking states as the Tamil version of ‘The Ghazi Attack’, Suriya’s ‘Singam 3’ and other south Indian movies have already fascinated a major chunk of movie-watchers. The celluloid is expected to earn around 25 crore in weekend days.
