Tovino Thomas starrer latest Malayalam movie ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’ reported dull occupancy on 2nd Monday. Witnessing around 1 to 2 % occupancy on 13th March, the celluloid raked a collection of Rs 0.03 crore on day 11. The cinema has totalled a collection of Rs 12 crore in 10 days and it is expected to enter 15-crore club by the end of third week of its release.
Releasing on more than hundreds of screens, Tom Emmatty directed action flick grossed Rs 3 crore on opening day. Opening on decent note, the celluloid witnessed 18% occupancy on first day of its release. Showing growth in the box office earnings in coming days, the film bagged a total collection of Rs 10.07 crore in weekend days.
‘Angamaly Diaries’, which is an adjacently released Malayalam movie, impacted the box office collection of ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’. Business of the film, which starred Neeraj Madhav, Gayathri Suresh, Roopesh Peethambaran in significant roles, declined after the box office clash with Lijo Jose Pellissery’s directorial venture which hit screens on 3rd March.
Filmmakers expected hike in the box office business, but the movie didn’t show any sign progress in the second week. Though there was no tougher competition for the movie at India’s box office, its business declined after the first weekend. The rate of collection dropped gradually with the passage of days and the celluloid bagged an overall income of Rs 12 crore in 10 days.
