Directed by R. Parthiepan, Tamil movie ‘Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga’ grossed an overall collection of Rs 13.5 crore in two weeks. The comedy thriller film, which featured Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Parvathy Nair, R. Parthiepan, Thambi Ramaiah in main roles, witnessed about 10 to 15% occupancy in cinema halls and multiplexes in the first week of its release.
Competing with superstar Vijay’s film ‘Bairavaa’, the Tamil cinema endeavored to score a good number at India’s box office. The action flick, which has been produced under the banner of ‘Vijaya Productions’, started its box office journey on 12th January with Rs 1.23 crore first day collection. The movie collected Rs 6.27 crore in weekend days of first week.
After grossing a whopping amount in first-three days of release, the film began showcasing poor performance in the cinema halls. As the competition with Vijay starrer flick had become tougher for Parthiepan’s directorial venture, the celluloid could fetch an amount of Rs 11 crore in entire first week. The offering continued to rake an average response from the audiences on following days.
In second week, the movie witnessed a gradual drop in the theatre occupancy that impacted its box office business. The Tamil cinema minted a total collection of Rs 2.5 crore in 2nd week and reported massive declination in its overall income. However, the celluloid didn’t manage to receive similar kind of response in international market and registered very low business in overseas.
