South Indian superstar Pawan Kalyan’s latest Telugu movie ‘Katamarayudu’ released this Friday (24th March, 2017). The celluloid hit more than 2500 screens in the Telugu speaking states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). The film, which stars actress Shruti Hassan in lead role opposite Pawan, is expected to gross Rs 15 crore as its first day collection.

Opening to 35% occupancy in the morning shows on Friday, the south Indian offering hit 300 screens in North American countries on 23rd of this month. The celluloid earned $615,853 through its preview shows. Garnering Rs 4.1 crore collection in the foreign countries (Canada and US) on Thursday, the Telugu flick collected a whopping income on its first Friday at India’s box office.

Directed by popular filmmaker Dolly, the celluloid reportedly opened to decent response in the foreign countries. After receiving positive reviews from the critics, the film got an average response in overseas. The action thriller flick is not facing box office clash with any Telugu movie in domestic arena. The film is expected to make a business of Rs 40 crore in weekend days.

Trade analysts and filmmakers are expecting this fresh release to surpass the opening day income of Pawan Kalyan and Shurti Hassan’s previous cinema ‘Gabbar Singh’. The latest Telugu offering is not the first film in which Pawan and Shruti are working together. This multi-starrer movie is expected to see growth in its business in weekend days. Latest box office figures are awaited.
