Jolly LLB 2, which Saurabh Shukla’s first movie of this year (2017), opened to 9% occupancy on 3rd Saturday. The movie witnessed a growth in it in the noon and evening shows on day 16. Competing with newly released multi-starrer Bollywood film Rangoon, Subhash Kapoor directed celluloid reported 14% total occupancy on 16th day of its release.
The film divulged a major chunk of spectators in north Indian states. In central India also, the movie’s performance was quite well compared to the latest Hindi cinema which stars Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan in significant roles. The second installment of Jolly LLB franchise is expected to earn Rs 1.2 crore on the third Saturday of its release.
Huma Qureshi’s first collaboration with Akshay Kumar seemed to be less influential in the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam speaking states as it received very low response from the audiences in these regions. The movie showcased poor performance in south India as Shruti Hassan, Anushka Shetty and Suriya’s Singam 3 has a good hold in cinema halls there.
Meanwhile, the sequel to Jolly LLB witnessed declination in the audiences’ response in overseas. The celluloid exhibited consistency in its box office business in the foreign countries like Canada, United States, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and United Arab Emirates. Till now, the film has raked a total amount of Rs 31.48 crore in overseas.
The movie has bagged an overall collection of Rs 145.2 crore in fifteen days. Produced under the banner of Star Fox Studios, Akshay Kumar and Anu Kapoor starrer cinema has totalled a worldwide collection of Rs 176.75 crore. The film is expected to garner consistent earnings in coming days as well as enter the 200-crore club total box office collection.
