Box office collection of Golmaal Again full Hindi movie reached to new height in 9 days. Total business and overseas earnings grossed by the Bollywood film created new record on Indian box office. Also, the celluloid witnessed tremendous occupancy in the foreign countries and received humongous response from the film-watchers in the overseas.
Commencing the box office journey on higher note, Rohit Shetty’s directorial venture witnessed massive response from the audiences on opening day. The comedy offering showcased outstanding performance in the cinema halls and multiplexes on opening day and collected a walloping income of Rs 30.14 crore on first day of its release in India.
On following day, the Hindi flick faced slight drop in the public response and witnessed decline in the theatre occupancy. The humongous occupancy, which was about 80% on Friday, dropped to around 60-70% on Saturday. Though the movie experienced slight mitigation in the number of audiences, it minted a whopping amount of Rs 28.37 crore on 2nd day of release.
Third day was expected to boost the overall earnings of the cinema beyond triple digit box office income, but the celluloid failed to surpass Rs 90 crore mark with the addition of business made on day 3. However, the Bollywood cinema continued to receive a fabulous response from the film-watchers on Sunday and bagged Rs 29.09 crore on 3rd day.
The fourth installment of ‘Golmaal‘ series not only gained immense response at the domestic platform but also fetched enormous earnings in the international market. The movie did a business of Rs 6.54 crore in North America, Rs 1.63 crore in United Kingdom, Rs 1.40 crore in Australia, Rs 0.88 crore in New Zealand, Rs 0.03 crore in Malaysia and Rs 10.16 crore from the rest of the world.
The film’s total domestic gross already crossed Rs 100 crore mark in three days. The Hindi cinema’s gross business in first weekend was Rs 112.31 crore. Fourth sequel of ‘Golmaal‘ surpassed Rs 130 crore mark at worldwide box office and agglomerated Rs 132.93 crore overall gross (domestic + overseas) in initial three days of its release across the globe.
In south Indian states, superstar Vijay starrer latest Tamil movie ‘Mersal‘ pocketed record-breaking earnings. The multi-starrer offering, which also features ‘Yamudu 3’ fame S J Suriya in prominent roles, raked in a tremendous revenue in the international market. Though the Tamil language offering faced helm controversies over its story, it continued to perform well on Indian box office.
Atlee’s directorial project exhibited excellent performance in the overseas. Receiving a thumping response in foreign countries, Rs 9.88 crore in the international arena. The movie bagged £ 361,401 [INR 3.11 cr] in United Kingdom, NZ$ 30,004 [INR 13.62 lakhs] in New Zealand, MYR 2,325,004 [INR 3.57 cr] in Malaysia and A$ 406,622 [INR 2.07 cr] in Australia.
