Hitting more than 1100 screens in India, the multi-starrer cinema performed well in central and northern part of India. Featuring Vidya Balan, Gauhar Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Pandey, Ashish Vidyarthi and several other superstars in leading roles, the newly released Indian movie showcased improvement in its performance on 1st Saturday and reported around 20% occupancy in morning shows.
The film continued to receive similar kind of response in noon shows also. As the craze of tenth edition of IPL has recently started, audiences’ response in cinema halls has declined in evening and night shows. Thus, the movies released in this week have witnessed a huge impact of it in terms of lowering of the occupancy. Also due to Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April, the movie reported drop in the occupancy in night shows.
Apart from the effect of ongoing domestic cricket tournament, adjacently releases Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam films too have affected the movie’s performance in domestic arena. Vidya Balan’s latest offering is failing to divulge the spectators as a big number of movie-watchers are preferring to watch other movies also. Begum Jaan is expected to exhibit increment in its earnings by driving an ample attention from public domain in the weekend days.
