Newly released American movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’ showcased massive growth in its box office business on Saturday and Sunday. Reporting a splendid hike in the total collection at box office, the movie grossed $425 million in three days. The celluloid, which is an action musical movie, collected an amount of Rs 6.67 crore at India’s box office in first weekend.
Exhibiting admirable performance in domestic arena, the film registered a business of $170 million in United States. The movie excelled in earning a good revenue in overseas and bagged an amount of $18.4 million in United Kingdom. The Hollywood flick collected $1.2 million in South Korea, $1 million in Italy, $1.1 million in Germany and $1.8 million in Brazil.
Directed by popular filmmaker Bill Condon, the film bagged $14.5 million in China. Though the film faced tough box office competition with other latest Hollywood movies – ‘All Nighter’, ‘Song to Song’, ‘T2 Trainspotting’, ‘Atomica’ and ‘The Belko Experiment’, it succeeded in curbing a huge amount in initial three days of its release in various countries.
In India, the celluloid hit limited number of screens and grossed an overall collection of Rs 6.67 crore in weekend days. The movie opened to a decent occupancy on Friday (17th March) and registered a business of Rs 1.42 crore. The celluloid witnessed growth in the box office collection on Saturday and minted an amount of Rs 2.45 crore on that day.
After garnering average incomes on first and second day of release in India, the film ‘Beauty and the Beast’ showcased little increment in its box office collection and made a business of Rs 2.8 crore on its first Sunday in Indian cinema. After pocketing a total collection of Rs 6.67 crore in India’s box office, the American flick is expected to enter 15-crore club by the end of first week.
