Shashank Khaitan directed latest film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ collected Rs 12.25 crore on first day. The movie, which hit screens on 10th March this year, reported around 40% occupancy on opening day. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer celluloid has raked a total domestic collection of Rs 17.01 crore at India’s box office.

‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ broke the record of ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, which had earned Rs 7.29 crore on first day of release. The film has also surpassed the box office earnings (Rs 9.2 crore) of ‘Student of the Year’, the movie in which Varun Dhawan worked with Alia Bhatt for first time. The sequel to ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ is expected to earn Rs 25 crore in first weekend.
Hitting across more than 3000 screens in India and around 450 screens in the overseas, the film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ witnessed about 40% occupancy in morning shows on first day. The response from audiences increased in noon shows and the celluloid reported a hike of 3% in the noon as well as evening shows on Friday.
