Srikant Murali directed latest Malayalam movie ‘Aby’ hit on more than hundreds of screens in south Indian states on 23rd February 2017. The film opened on a decent note on the very first day and reported around 3% occupancy on its first Thursday in Indian theatres. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese and Mareena Michael starrer Malayalam flick is expected to earn Rs 0.4 lacs on day 1.
The celluloid, which revolves around a boy’s dream to fly, started with a little occupancy in morning shows on first day. The film witnessed slight increase in the movie-watchers in the noon and evening shows. In night shows, number of spectators further hiked following which occupancy in the cinema halls too hiked.
The film is facing a huge box office competition with other south Indian films like Singam 3, Om Namo Venkatesaya, Nenu Local and Winner. As most of the audiences are preferring to watch the latest release, response for Aby has mitigated. Story of the movie seems to be the main reason because of which the movie has witnessed less footfalls in the multiplexes.
On other hand, Shruti Hassan and Anushka Shetty starrer Singam 3 has raked a huge business of Rs 70 crore in two weeks. The film is still receiving a good response in domestic arena as well as in international market. While Akkineni Nagarjuna led Om Namo Venkatesaya has grossed Rs 11.8 crore total box office collection. Sai Dharam Tej’s action movie ‘Winner’ reported average occupancy on opening day (24th February).
